Tattoos, which are made by inserting indelible ink into the
dermis layer of the skin, with more or less artistic motifs, are seen nowadays as a certain attitude of life. But Tattoos are and were also often used as identification characteristics. Thus, for example
the inmates in concentration camps, were marked with an inmate number. The story "The Penal Colony" by Kafka tells about a barbaric "most artistic" apparature, constructed to scratch
prisoners (no matter if they are guilty or not) by means of a vibrating metal plate and a needle their fault into the skin. This hour-long process, ultimately ending with the death of the delinquent,
symbolizes the "unity of scripture and death." But we all have inner tattoos as well, which life has written into our souls. My abstract, non objective illustration is an approximate trial
to explore and express the complexity of this topic.
